Is Mobile Banking secure?

Yes, our number one priority is the security of your information and we would not offer it to you as a banking solution if it was not secure. You can do your part by keeping your account numbers, PINs and passwords in a secure place and not giving them out to anyone. Mobile Banking employs industry best practices with regards to security. At a high level, Mobile Banking offers the following security safeguards:
  • Authentication - Mobile browser and downloadable application users are authenticated for every interaction with any Mobile Banking component. Users are authenticated by account number and password.
  • Encryption -128-bit encryption is used for all communications within Mobile Banking.

Is my personal or financial information stored on my phone?

No. Mobile Banking does not save any files with personal or financial information on your mobile device. That information stays strictly within online banking. Some phones (e.g., BlackBerry, Android) have logo and branding files that are copied to the mobile device. Those files do not contain any personally identifiable information.

What if my phone is lost or stolen?

If your mobile device is lost or stolen, no one can access your account without knowing your password and, in some cases, your account number. If your phone is lost or stolen, contact us at (717) 840-4981 to prevent unauthorized access to your account.

Is there a fee to use Mobile Banking?

No. Accessing your accounts through Mobile Banking is absolutely FREE!

If I’m having issues accessing my accounts, is there a list of steps I can take to see why I can’t login?

The following steps will narrow down any login problem:
1. Mobile Banking may be down. This can be confirmed by going to heritagevalleyfcu.org. We will post information on our web page if Mobile Banking is down.

2. Login to HV@home on your computer. If you are unable to login to HV@home, you may also not be able log into Mobile Banking. Contact us at (717) 840-4981 to verify the status of your account.

3. Using your mobile phone to enter data takes a little practice. Passwords are case sensitive; make sure you are entering your password exactly as it is set up. If your password begins with a lower-case letter, you may need to use your phone’s shift key to change the default from upper case. In addition, some phones require extra shift key presses to enter numbers instead of letters.

Loans & Credit Cards

Home Equity Loans

So, what exactly is “equity”?

Equity is the difference between the appraised value of your home and what you owe on your mortgage. Equity is the part of your home’s value that belongs to you, not your lender. You can borrow against this equity in your home and use the money for whatever purpose you choose — improve your home, buy a new car, pay for college tuition, consolidate other loans, or send yourself on a well-earned vacation!

Why not a personal loan, instead?

Our home equity is a loan in which your home serves as the collateral. With a home equity, you may be able to deduct the interest you pay from your taxable income. Remember to consult with your tax advisor concerning the deductibility of interest. These are perks you would not get with an ordinary personal loan.

How much can I borrow?

At Heritage Valley FCU you can get a home equity loan for as little as $5,000. Please contact us for the maximum amount of equity from which you can borrow against.

How is the rate determined?

The rate is fixed and fully disclosed at the time you take the loan.

Credit Cards

What is the interest rate?

Our Platinum VISA is designed to offer the lowest possible rate based on credit. Your interest rate will be the fixed rate we quote you at the time of your card approval. Our fixed rates range between 10.90-17.90%. Simply put…the higher your score, the lower the rate and best of all, as your score improves over time, you may have the opportunity to further reduce your rate as a reward for your good payment history.

Is there an annual fee?

No. Some financial institutions charge annual credit card fees as high as $30 or more, but not at Heritage Valley FCU. There is NO annual fee whatsoever. All you pay are any interest charges you accrue. That’s it!

Is there a grace period?

Yes. To help you cut your credit card cost even further, your HV VISA features a 25-day interest-free grace period on purchases from statement closing date.

Is the HV VISA accepted throughout the world?

Yes. The VISA credit card is highly recognized and accepted at most every retail or department store, airline, hotel and motel…throughout the United States and all over the world! And if you should ever have questions or problems, you’ll be dealing locally with your credit union—someone you know and trust.

Can I transfer balances from other cards?

Yes. Take full advantage of the low interest rate on your HV VISA. Transfer the balances from your other higher interest rate credit cards (including bank, gas, department store, etc.) and save on finance charges. It’s simple and there are no cash advance fees whatsoever. Contact our Loan Department for details.

Yes. You can view your VISA account information online at www.eZCardInfo.com. Here you can view statement history, view current balance and payment information, view current and historical transaction activity, make a payment and view payment history, find contact information, and download account transactions into multiple formats.

Can I get cash advances?

Yes. In addition to charging purchases, your VISA credit card permits you to get ready cash—just about anywhere you need it. Unlike other institutions, there is no fee for cash advances (finance charges do apply). There’s no special arrangement to repay. Cash advances show up on your monthly statement along with your purchases. You may also contact Heritage Valley FCU to request your own Personal Identification Number (PIN), which will allow you to make cash withdrawals at ATMs worldwide which display the VISA network symbol.

Can I use my HV VISA for overdraft protection?

No. VISA accounts cannot be used for overdraft protection. Our standard share account overdraft sequence and Overdraft Privilege products are currently in effect. Please refer to your membership materials or contact the credit union for more information.
