A Money Market account is a type of savings account. The difference is that money market accounts usually pay higher interest, have higher minimum balance requirements and allow only a few withdrawals per month. Another difference is that, similar to a checking account, money market accounts will allow the account holder to write up to three checks each month, which count as withdrawals from the account.
